Introducción: la Auriculoterapia, basada en el microsistema auricular, es una técnica de medicina alternativa que ha ganado relevancia en los últimos años por su enfoque no invasivo y su potencial terapéutico. Objetivo: analizar el fundamento teórico, las aplicaciones clínicas y la evidencia científica de la Auriculoterapia como herramienta terapéutica en el manejo del dolor y desórdenes funcionales. Método: el estudio constituye una revisión actualizada de la literatura científica respecto al fundamento teórico, las aplicaciones clínicas y la evidencia científica de la Auriculoterapia como herramienta terapéutica en el manejo del dolor y desórdenes funcionales. Resultados: la revisión actualizada de la literatura científica permitió reflexionar respecto a que la oreja funciona como un mapa reflejo del cuerpo humano, donde la estimulación de puntos específicos puede influir en órganos, sistemas y funciones fisiológicas, resultando así la Auriculoterapia una herramienta terapéutica en el manejo del dolor y desórdenes funcionales, lo que favorece al tratamiento de muchas enfermedades. Conclusiones: La Auriculoterapia es una herramienta prometedora en medicina complementaria, especialmente en el manejo del dolor y desórdenes funcionales, con fundamentos teóricos sólidos; pero con necesidad de mayor esclarecimiento de sus mecanismos fisiológicos.

ABSTRACT

 Introduction: Auriculotherapy, based on the auricular microsystem, is an alternative medicine technique that has gained relevance in recent years due to its non-invasive approach and therapeutic potential. Objective: To analyze the theoretical basis, clinical applications, and scientific evidence of Auriculotherapy as a therapeutic tool in the management of pain and functional disorders. Method: This study constitutes an updated review of the scientific literature regarding the theoretical basis, clinical applications, and scientific evidence of Auriculotherapy as a therapeutic tool in the management of pain and functional disorders. Results: This updated review of the scientific literature allowed us to reflect on the fact that the ear functions as a reflex map of the human body, where the stimulation of specific points can influence organs, systems, and physiological functions. This makes Auriculotherapy a therapeutic tool in the management of pain and functional disorders, which favors the treatment of many diseases. Conclusions: Auriculotherapy is a promising tool in complementary medicine, especially in the management of pain and functional disorders, with solid theoretical foundations. but with a need for further clarification of its physiological mechanisms.
